8 of us for dinner. Counter seating up to around 20, same setup as predecessor MIC kitchen. Couldn’t wait to try out the new iphone12 mini camera. AlwaysHungry was first to arrive and ordered the abalone rice and oysters.Friendly manager explained that the restaurant wanted to adopt a sakebar concept and recommended different sakes for us to try. Some snacks on the house.Abalone rice ($120) soft and yummy.Dokuganryu (獨眼龍) Oyster ($98) very juicy and fresh. Sashimi/sushi platter ($880) comprising hamachi, 牡丹蝦, 赤貝, squid, saba, 金目鯛, toro, cod and uni. AlwaysHungry was still famished so volunteered to order skewers etc. Some interesting choices:雞掌心雞胸軟骨雞腳筋和牛膈膜筋牛頸肉雞軟骨雞翼 crispy. Very yummy Sweet corn very sweetPurple potato very sweetJapanese onion didn’t give anyone bad breath afterwards燒豚肉with deep fried garlic on top.雞皮 not crispy enough. 墨魚海膽卷 very odd tasting. The squid ball did not match well at all with the cooked uni.I was contently full when the same skewers kept continuing to appear. We asked the manager how much more and turned out AlwaysHungry (who was also full by that time) had ordered 3 rounds of everything. Manager agreed to cancel the orders that they had not started grilling. (Someone commented that the manager could have said sth when it was obvious that AlwaysHungry was tripping ordering for 18 ppl instead of 8.) We all had a box filled with leftover skewers to take away. I took the chicken wings.Miso soup came with the prawn head; nice and sweet.Dessert comprised of a variety of sorbet and roll cake. Tried the strawberry and matcha cake; coconut and apple sorbet. Manager noted that they had these flown in from Japan.Ended up ordering 4 bottles of 720 sake (around $650 each).In summary, good food, interesting choice of skewers. Excellent service. Servers were very proactive refilling water, sake carafes and ice containers.(PS. It was quite dark in the restaurant but my photos turned out ok. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the iphone12 mini.)
