After watching 蔡瀾's enthusiastic introduction on KMB's "Road Show" on 新成發's curry noodle, I decided to give it a try because I remembered fondly the 1st time I had curry 'Malay noodle' at 深水步's 福榮街some years ago. The taste was real good and the price was cheap. So I wonder if I could experience the same at 新成發...Food quality I've tried the feature noodle '摻摻' ($35), which was a bowl of white 米粉mixed with yellow 油麵, with currylaced soup base, 五花腩, 蝦, driedtofu and 芽菜.The curry soup base tasted pretty good; it was not that spicy and should be fine for anyone's tastebud. As GourmetKC said, the 米粉and 油麵were nothing special, just average quality but portionwise it was enough for one person. The 五花腩strips with spicy dipping sauce were well made and cut, not fat at all which suited me well. A few pieces of little shrimps were pretty much bonus as your stomach were expected to be filled with driedtofu and 芽菜.Value for money: The '摻摻' has decent quality but not THAT special to warrant a $35 price tag. If they mark it down to $25 or less, it will be a good deal.Conclusion 新成發's curry noodle is worth a try for first timers. At $35, it is decent but overpriced. Then again, this is 蔡瀾's joint, a price reduction looks unlikely.

對,唔辣的湯底絕對乏善陳足。
個清湯像清水煮麵,頗淡,我自己又加醬油又加醋才有點味。
不過,未食過摻摻(幾種粉麵摻摻埋埋一碗)又一試無妨。
<br />鍾意食辣的話,斜對面鍾記車仔麵個港式咖哩魚旦湯底正得多。

上週有晚來到美食坊,見只有王家沙同詠藜園有人排隊,在馬拉都有食過摻摻,同吃蝦麵一樣主要係吃湯底,在香港就未吃過,所以就入來試試。
門口個靚女姐姐再三強調免收加一,但呢度無人落order要自己去買飛,咁無理由收加一喎!叫左辣的特選摻摻,要了米粉、油麵兩溝。
料有五花腩、蝦、芽菜等,俱一般貨色吃不出有什麼特別之處;油麵就同普通車仔麵一樣,米粉就比炒麵舖的更差,是「福字」米粉的水準;湯底幾辣,都幾香,側聞用一些魚乾煲過,算是呢碗野最特別的地方,但卻比蝦麵店的差很遠。
建議不吃辣的不用試,因為唔辣的湯底應更乏善可陳。
30幾蚊只吃到這等貨色唔係太值。
奇怪蔡生一個地道星馬通怎會引入這間平平無奇又不太好吃的麵店呢?
